“Every film is a puzzle really, from an editorial point of view.” — Walter Murch
I love a puzzle. Many editors can shape your idea from an upside-down puzzle into an emotionally impactful story with the right balance of sound and visuals. I am one of those editors, but with a unique twist.
From Failure to Fuel: Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, I discovered my calling as an editor through an unexpected path—by failing as a director. While pursuing my MFA in Film & Television at NYU Tisch Asia, one of my idols, a three-time Oscar-winning director, reviewed the first cut of my short film and then spent what felt like hours tearing it apart. It was humbling, enlightening, and, most importantly, a masterclass in editing. Armed with a new perspective, I returned to the edit bay and reimagined the film with a radically different approach. The result? “MY AVATAR,” an award-winning short that premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival in 2011.
That experience sparked my deep passion for editing—a discipline that has made me a better storyteller and an even more thoughtful director.
A Storyteller with an Analytical Edge: With over twenty years of experience in film and television, I bring a unique blend of creative vision and analytical precision to every project. I dig deep, ask the right questions, and collaborate closely to ensure we’re realizing the same vision. My strength lies in balancing the emotional nuances of comedy and drama, making sure each frame serves the story.
The Power of Sound: If your project relies heavily on music and sound design, we’ll make a great team. I have a wealth of experience working on musical projects where sound is at the forefront of the narrative. Every cut is crafted to sound as good as it looks, ensuring the story resonates on every level.
Community and Mentorship: As an Associate Member of the American Cinema Editors, I serve on their Internship Committee, mentoring the next generation of editors. Guiding others while continuously learning myself has enriched my journey, both as an editor and a director.
I currently live in Los Angeles and am represented by Ivana Savic at GSK Talent.
Let’s Connect: Whether you have a project in mind or just want to chat about music, record collecting, parenting, comedy, tragedy, or self-care, I’d love to hear from you.
Let’s make something great together!
